"What a gem! This perfectly located boutique hotel fulfilled all of our expectations after reading the rave reviews on Tripadvisor (which is how we selected it). The hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly. The location couldn't be better - walking distance to practically everything, and public transport just around the corner. We felt welcome and "at home" and it was a wonderful place to take an afternoon siesta when we returned from our daily trips around the city. We had a very nice room on the fifth floor with a balcony which overlooked the city and the garden below. I highly recommend this hotel - you won't be disappointed!"

"Superb boutique hotel with an excellent location, tucked away in a little alley off the Piazza Barberini and close to the Spanish Steps. We were able to walk to all of the sites from the Modigliani.

The staff is wonderful - helpful, knowledgeable and charming. It was my husband's 60th birthday and his daughter called from the States and asked if something special could be done for her dad. When we arrived back from sightseeing there was a beautiful plate of cookies from a local bakery and shortly a bottle of prosecco was delivered.
The restaurant suggestions were perfect. Never a bad meal. We were on the top floor in a beautiful room with a queen bed, two sofas and a darling balcony overlooking the courtyard.
We fell in love with Rome and the Hotel Modigliani and plan to visit again next year. I will insist that my friends stay at the Modiglian when in Rome.

"The owners, who are also artists, have created an attractive, inviting atmosphere -- one of "elegance and sympathy," as they define it. They named their hotel, which is near the Spanish Steps and the Via Veneto, after their favorite artist: Modigliani (1884-1920). The superior rooms are on the top floor, with windows opening onto a panoramic view over historical Rome. The other bedrooms face the garden or a tranquil old street. Bedrooms are well furnished, each with a well-maintained private bathroom with a shower. In the superior room on the top floor you can have your breakfast  on a terrace with a view of St. Peter's. The hotel is entirely non smoking."

"Marco and Giulia are enterprising hosts who continue the family tradition of being hoteliers. Leaving their careers as musician and writer (Marco just wrote a guide on seven romantic itineraries in Rome), they totally renovated a centuries-old building with the goal of offering comfortable and practical accommodation with many amenities (air conditioning, satellite TV, mini-bar, laundry service, motorbike and car rental, city tour excursions, nearby garage), topped off with an efficient but friendly staff. With its unbeatable central location close to Via Veneto and the Spanish Steps, they have all the elements for success. The front desk, sitting area, and spacious reception hall with comfortable sofas have a clean, contemporary look accented with Modigliani prints. A personalized touch has been given to the breakfast room with framed black-and-white photos of the couple’s children and friends artwork. Bedrooms on the six upper floors, reached by an elevator, are decorated along the same clean lines with wood floors and olive-green-striped spreads and drapes. Most desirable are the top-floor rooms with balconies and views over rooftops to St. Peter’s cupola while others face the inner courtyard (where breakfast can be enjoyed on warm mornings). The hotel is next door to a convent, quiet is guaranteed!"

"A quick glance in the guest book at the Modigliani reveals phrases such as 'loved this place' and 'great staff'. And it is indeed an excellent choice. Staff are young and helpful, rooms are pearl grey, spacious and light, and there's a quiet internal courtyard for drinks. Named after the great Italian painter Amedeo Modigliani (1884-1920) and run by an artist and his musician partner - their portrait hangs in a ground floor corridor - this is a charming place. Original paintings, many left by guests, hang on the walls while outside, the small courtyard is a picture of Mediterranean colour - black wrought-iron furniture and lemon trees set against high orange walls. The 23 modern rooms are equally stylish. They're also comfortable, with big, firm beds and incorporated mod cons. The pick of the bunch is room 602 which boasts a sweeping balcony view stretching from the Vittoriano to St Peter's. The hotel's location is also a big plus - a quiet side street off Piazza Barberini."

"There’s a sense of anticipation the moment you enter the marble hall, with its deep, pale sofas and fresh flowers – Marco’s wide smile and infectious enthusiasm reinforce the feeling. This is an unusual, delightful place, hidden down a side street just five minutes’ walk from the Spanish steps and Via Veneto. The house belonged to Marco’s father, and Marco and Giulia ( he a writer, she a musician) have turned it into the perfect small hotel. Marble floors and white walls are a dramatic setting for black-and-white photos taken by Marco, their starkness softened by luxuriant plants. The bread oven of the 1700s has become a dining room – all vaulted ceilings, whitewashed walls, cherrywood tables, fabulous photos. Bedrooms are fresh and elegant; some have balconies and wonderful views, all have small, perfect bathrooms. There’s a lovely new sitting room for guests. The whole place has a sweet, stylish air, it’s unusually quiet for the centre of the city and there’s a patio scented with jasmine. Marco and Giulia will tell you about Rome’s secret corners – or grab a copy of Marco’s new guide and discover Rome for yourselves."
